Indexer WebSocket: compression required

Scheduled for Oct 28, 14:20 - 15:20 UTC

Scheduled

On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, we will begin requiring WebSocket compression (permessage-deflate) on indexer.dydx.trade/v4/ws. Clients connecting without compression may have their connection refused with an HTTP 426 response. Once compression is enabled, clients can reconnect immediately.

We recommend enabling compression now, ahead of the change.

How to enable compression:
- Go (gorilla/websocket): websocket.Dialer{EnableCompression: true}
- C++ (Boost.Beast): websocket::permessage_deflate opt; opt.client_enable = true; ws.set_option(opt);
- Python (aiohttp): session.ws_connect(url, compress=15)
- Python (websockets) and Node.js (ws): enabled by default

The 426 response body includes these same instructions.
